Common Men's Problem : Premature Ejaculation
What is Premature Ejaculation? : It is one of the most common Erectility dysfunction. It is a common condition that affects 30 to 40 percent of men, regardless of age. It occurs when a man ejaculates before or soon after entering his partner. Some men have trouble controlling their orgasm upon entry, others consider 5-10 minutes of copulation too little time. How long a man is able to last is not the important factor in diagnosing premature ejaculation. The crucial issue is if a man is satisfied with the length of coitus.
Study shows that "About 20 percent of adult males have premature ejaculation at any one time, and 70 percent of men experience premature ejaculation at some time during their lives." It is believed to be a psychological problem and does not represent any known organic disease involving the male reproductive tract or any known lesions in the brain or nervous system. Males are conditioned by societal pressures to reach climax in a short time due to fear of discovery when masturbating as teenagers or during early sexual experiences "in the back seat of the car" or with a prostitute. This pattern of rapid attainment of sexual release is difficult to change in marital or long-term
relationships.
Causes
It is almost always caused by psychological concerns rather than a physical problem. There are actually several causes of premature ejaculation, like:
• anger and tension in the relationship
• fear
• want to be somewhere else
• Sexually aroused
• Worrying about maintaining erections
• Guilt about enjoying sex or pleasure of any kind
• Being so concerned about performance they didn't pay attention to their own sensations.
Physical causes of premature ejaculation include diabetes, a tight foreskin, and disorders of the nervous system.
In the early 1990's, research indicated that the pelvic muscles, specifically the muscles that surround the erectile bodies in the penis, are in a hyperactive state in men with premature ejaculation.
Diagnosis
It is diagnosed based on typical symptoms. To understand problem, doctor will need to discuss sexual history with patient. Be frank and open. The more doctor knows, the better he or she can help.
