Deadly Side Effects of Zyprexa - FDA Recalled Drug
The drug Zyprexa was created in the hope that the debilitating side effects of traditional antipsychotics would be abolished. Some of these severe side effects included extra pyramidal symptoms which influence, muscles and coordination, tardive dyskinea which causes random but rapid body movements. In addition side effects such as neuroleptic malignant syndrome of high fevers, sweating and uneven blood pressure were not uncommon. Even though these side effects were incapacitating and lasting, the need for reliable antipsychotic medications outweighed any potential harm they caused.
It wasn’t until the 1970’s that the first ‘atypical’ antipsychotics were developed. These drugs assured relief from many neurological disorders without the so called ‘dangerous’ complication found in earlier drugs. To the relief of the many victims of neurological disorders, these drugs were found to be just as effective as previous medications, but reduced the occurrences of side effects. In 1996 Eli Lilly released Zyprexa and promised the
same reliable relief of schizophrenia and bipolar disorders with even fewer accompanying side effects. However, the dangers of traditional antipsychotic were still present and in addition, new dangers of increases in diabetes, stroke and obesity came along with it. The developing side effects of Zyprexa became more and more harmful to the patient’s health.
When a trusted medication causes someone grave injury, then they have a right (and duty) to seek compensation for the pain that’s been suffered from the harmful side effects. If this has happened to you, or someone you know, please contact a Zyprexa Lawyer today. For more information please visit our website at http://www.resource4zyprexainfo.com
