The Entrepreneurial Myth: Why You Don't Have to Sacrifice Your Marriage, Your Job or Your Sanity To Be A Successful Entrepreneur!
You know the stereotype: A typical entrepreneur as a workaholic, running the business at the cost of family and personal time. But it doesn’t have to be that way! A growing number of North Americans are choosing to invest in their own and their family’s future by dedicating 10 to 20 hours every week to a part-time home-based business. Newsweek magazine reports that by the year 2005, it’s anticipated that 50% of the households in the United States will be involved in a home-based business!
Home-based business is a $427 billion a year industry. That’s bigger than General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler all put together. The success rate for home-based businesses is over 80% and average home-based business owners pay themselves between $50,000 and $250,000 a year. BUT … only with the right team and the right company with a track record that can PROVE their success! Running your own small business can reap huge rewards, including tax write-offs for entertainment, travel, office space and operating expenses.
So what DOES it take to achieve success working from home? Traditional businesses offering a product or a service often require significant start-up investment so increasingly, people who have a significant desire to change their life circumstances but who don’t have a lot of money to spend are turning to a unique business model that offers the wonderful advantage of not having to sell or deliver products, collect money or complete complicated paperwork.
Basically, starting this business requires that consumers simply switch stores to fully guaranteed products. The buyer’s decision is simple: since we all buy personal care, household cleaning, laundry, vitamin/nutritional and skin care/cosmetics products on a monthly basis, there’s no question about WHETHER to buy these types of products, but only a decision about WHERE to purchase them. Therefore, this business model involves spending no additional money to the usual household budget.
In exchange for their loyalty, customers are paid anywhere from 7 – 20% commission on word-of-mouth referrals, depending on the number of customers personally eferred. “Helping People” bonuses can also be a significant source of income. Although traditional methods of referring customers to set up month-to-month accounts with the company have relied on community networking, great strides are now being made using technologies such
as the internet and conference calling. Dedicated customers can also choose to benefit from a wide range of money-saving services, from long distance savings and prescription discounts, to travel club membership and vehicle purchase programs.
Is this the right business model for you? Ask yourself: “Why do I want to earn an income from home?” A clear and compelling reason will provide the stamina it takes to persist with the business during inevitable slow periods. Are you someone who naturally shares recommendations with friends and family? Do you like talking with people, and are you willing to commit to assisting others to achieve success on their own terms?
What does it take to actually achieve financial success? The three T’s: Training, Tools, and Teamwork. A strong mentor offering training and ongoing support is an important element in your success. Consistent effort using tools such as conference calls, online conferencing and online training is critical to build a thriving business. Successful people set regular business hours, commit to working them regularly, and enlist family support, so everyone understands that working hours are just that – for working. The right mix of teamwork, resources and coaching is a winning combination!
Finally, coachability is key. This is a business of duplication. It’s simple! The tools, training and support are provided, all you need to do is plug in and follow the lead of successful people above you. Surprisingly, online businesses can yield maximum rewards in developing close relationships with people who often become more than just business partners, but lifelong friends!
This business requires developing personal strengths and the willingness to help others reach their goals. It’s a business of leadership, guiding and coaching others to success using the simple, duplicable steps that all successful business-builders are willing to follow!
