Good Plan; Bad Outcome Network Marketing DON'T'S

Your going to get divorced you know," Ken Lewis said casually after a particularly good day of Network Marketing.
Not to mention it was the third weekend in a row where I had blown off shrubbery shopping and general spouse sucking up stuff to pursue my personal passion. Network Marketing.
I'll always remember my reply, as its like an echo in my mind,
"Yeah, But it's worth it. Wait 'til she's driving around in her Lexus, she'll forget all about it," I shot back, fully serious.
It was common knowledge among my new Network Marketing friends that my wife wasn't quite as consumed with Network Marketing as I was.
I kept assuring them that she was coming along and that I was getting her hooked the right way.
She had all the access she wanted to quality training and my non-stop instruction. She was invited to all my presentations, and of course I let her know when I was having meetings at the house or when I was going to be out late.
That was three years ago.
Today, my prospecting bag and a room full of products stacked to the ceiling sits in my one bedroom efficiency apartment. Video tapes and distributor kits line the walls and sit stacked in corners like cheap statues collecting dust.
So what happened?
Well, it wasn't just my over-zealous Gorilla Marketing Libido that lead to Ken's insight into my future.
There were a few other issues too.
You know, mother-in-laws, bills, social life, cult activities, It was just that Network Marketing it-self didn't help.
Well, I hope I got here just in time for you.
The following are 10 general don'ts that I put together to assist you Gorilla Marketers on how to treat your spouse no matter how you feel about Network Marketing.
As you can see I have cleverly intertwined Network Marketing scenarios into the following examples. This should assist you in developing a pro-active strategy to keep your spouse happy and allow you to hide the selfish, addictive nature of Network Marketing.
1) Don't assume because your spouse is learning Network Marketing that they want to spend all of their time either in meetings, or watching company training videos.
2) Don't assume that because your spouse is learning to Network Market that everything on there wish list - like window treatments, golf clubs, furniture, or whatever -
has been replaced by more training materials, and hotel meetings.
3) Don't wake up on every day you have off and say "Morning hon. It's a great day for Network Marketing, come prospecting with me today.
4) Don't act like your spouse has completely betrayed you because they obligated the both of you to a family funeral or their friends wedding, when you would rather be working your business with happy alive Network Marketers. (see 7 below)
5) Don't come back all rankled from a bad day of prospecting and getting skunked, and pull the ol' take it out on your spouse routine. By the way. Don't come back like you just won the lottery after an epic day and start gloating about the Gorilla conquest either.
6) Don't completely lose it after your spouse backs over your white board and easel 10 minutes before your guest arrive for a presentation.
7) Don't go off on a two year vent session, and break blood vessels because your spouse doesn't feel right about letting you tell their friends and family about your MLM opportunity. Even though you find out they later a few of them joined a different company because they weren't informed of your opportunity.
(This one is a toughie! I know, I fully understand, just hold onto something. Maybe take a pill. You will survive!)
8) Don't do a two hour prospecting call on the spur of the moment during a romantic evening, or during a movie your spouse rented for the two of you to watch together.
9) Don't tell them "that's stupid", every time they suggest that it might be kind of fun and romantic to go sit and watch the airplanes come in.
Knowing full well it's a blatant attempt to get you to spend more time with them away from Network Marketing
10) Don't make the same mistakes with your new girlfriend or wife, I mean spouse. Second chances are hard to come by.
These are just a few basic rules for you Gorilla Marketers to live by. Pace yourself with your spouse. No matter how good your intent. No matter what they say about being broke. No matter how rich you say you will be.
If you want to keep the spouse and your MLM business, make sure you at least follow some of the advice given.
For you Internet junkies, the same rules apply to spending your time on the Internet. Besides it's good to get out in the sun every now and then.
Good luck and Happy Network Marketing
