The Rich Jerk: a Marketing Odyssey - Part 5 - We Have Lift Off
No matter what you think about the Rich Jerk, he has ultimately done something right. You may not approve of the tactics he used. You may not have liked his ebook (although many did). You may be pissed off at him, angry, whatever, but he got you. The Rich Jerk wrote an ebook and made a sales letter for it. The resemblance between that and what other internet marketing «gurus» are doing stops there.
A little refresher on this series. The Rich Jerk: a Marketing Odyssey series was written with a couple of ideas in mind. Review a best selling ebook, document the building of a website made to sell that product as an affiliate, use incentivized marketing to give that ebook away for free, all the while demonstrating how easy it is to make money on the internet. Never has such a clearly documented process been revealed for free on the internet.
And now it's all ready. During the entire process, I kept one thing in mind: I developed the site I am about to show you as a Newbie. It took me about a week to build the site from A to Z using Projekt IRS from myeasyscripts.com. The reason for that is that I did it all myself in my «spare» time. The goal of this project was not to show that with money, time, designers, programmers and what not you could make money on the internet, I think everyone knows that already. The goal was to demonstrate that it can be done with none of those things, and part time.
Here is what I did. I found a hot product. It's not hard to find one, the internet is a buzz machine and hot products don't stay hidden long. Any product at the top of a Clickbank category should do just fine. So I bought the product and reviewed it, objectively, I might add. Since it was good, I continued on. If it hadn't been up to par, I would have found another product.
After writing my review, I ordered a license of Projekt IRS from myeasyscripts.com. Since I had already bought the script for $139.95, I only had to get an extra license for $39.95.
I got the license in my email as well as an instruction manual. This is all I used to make the entire site, and it was pretty easy, even for someone like me that knows nothing about programming and design and uses a designer for everything.
Next I chose offers from various affiliate networks that allow offers to be incentivized, aka you give something to the user to fill in the
offer. This is the basis of the system. Remember, I'm giving away $97 ebooks here and someone has to pay for it. That's where the incentivizable offers come in...
I added these offers to the site, and added some texts. The longest part was writing my approximately 3 page long sales letter. I could not write that as an amateur as I have written too many, but I only used my brain, no notes, no guidebooks...
I then set up 2 autoresponder sequences on the site. One for people that want to get the Rich Jerk ebook for free, the other for people that want to find out how to make money by giving things away. I added an affiliate page for marketers to help me get the word out while making a generous commission, and voila, site built.
Where I'm at now is writing my PPC Adwords and others. Since the ads are related to the Rich Jerk, I wrote them Rich Jerk Style. It was actually a lot of fun and gave me some interesting insights for my future campaigns. I think it loosened me up a bit, showing me that in sales, you don't have to be serious, you can also be: provocative, funny, borderline insulting, direct, emotional or just about whatever you want. Here are a couple of the better ones I came up with. They don't look like genius, but admit it, you feel like clicking them...(If you can't see the ads here, visit www.myeasyblog.com to see them)
Well that's about it folks. My campaign is launching in the next couple of hours. Following that, I'm going to write up a press release and submit it to PrWeb to get some good action going. Stay tuned for the final chapter of The Rich Jerk: a Marketing Odyssey, where I will let you in on some figures and recap the success of this venture. I'll also let you know what you can expect by investing in the $80 service level at PrWeb. If you are reading this on another site, you can find the rest of the series at myeasyblog.com.
