Direct Talk On What It Takes to Succeed
A lot of the time, especially in my humor writing, I am extremely sarcastic about Internet marketing. I make fun of the hype, the advertising, and some of the marketing strategies used. At times, my readers may wonder if I believe there is even a...
Going Public - Is it The Best Option For You?

I’ll Take Quality Over Quantity Every Time
In the early days of developing my home business, I went for the numbers instead of focusing on targeting prospects. It took me a while to appreciate the importance of targeting (quality) instead of just going for the big numbers (quantity).

Make a Note/What I Learned from Jack Canfield and Ted Nicholas
by Dr. Joe Vitale
www.MrFire.com
I spoke at a seminar in San Antonio, Texas a few months ago. Ted Nicholas was in the audience. Ted is a legend; a direct marketing king and a copywriter of the highest order. But he sat and did something unusual at the event: He took notes.
I found this fascinating. Why would one of the wisest and eldest recognized fathers of modern direct marketing sit and take notes at my talk?
And he didn't take notes only while I was speaking. He took notes while every speaker gave his or her presentation.
Why was that?
A few weeks ago I gave a talk at an event in Las Vegas. Jack Canfield was in the crowd. He's the legend behind the "Chicken Soup" line of books. As far as I'm concerned, he's a mega success and most of us should be sitting at his feet. But what was Jack doing as I and the other speakers gave our talks?
Yep. Taking notes.
When I was in Chicago recently, a well known marketer came up to me and said he just bought my program at www.HypnoticMarketingStrategy.com I was impressed. I figured he already knew all there was about marketing. In fact, I've bought his stuff in the past to learn from him!
What's going on here?
Why are all these already successful people still buying how-to information and takes notes at seminars?
I think this is a trait of success. If you want to get
ahead, to achieve your dreams, to lift the bar on past and future successes, then you need to be always learning, growing, thinking, and expanding.
When you're at an event, take notes.
When you're reading books, take notes.
Even though I have my own mentoring program at http://www.joe-vitale-executive-mentoring.com/
where others pay a lot of money to learn my marketing methods, I still read, study, learn and grow. I spend what some may consider a fortune on books. I have this desire to know more, and this realization that I'll never know it all. So I keep reading, and I keep taking notes.
One thing note taking does is reinforce what you are learning. It also makes it more permanent. It's easy to forget what you think you'll always remember. Don't trust your memory.
Write it down. And later, review what you wrote.
If it's good enough for Ted Nicholas and Jack Canfield and me, it ought to be good enough for you, too.
Make a note.
