Web Page Map Helps Travelers Find Alternative Airports
New Web Page Map Helps Travelers Find Alternative Airports
With recent reports of congestion and delays at major airports such as
Chicago's O'Hare where there are regulations pending to limit takeoffs
and landings to about 80 per hour, authorities might want to encourage
passengers to consider flying to alternative airports at their destinations.
For example at Chicago such would be Midway Airport or Meigs Field.
You might also want to consider Rockford or Milwaukee if it is convenient
to your intended address at your destination.
Not only would this lessen congestion at most large major city airports
But would improve the viability of so-called smaller alternative airports
in terms of increased revenue from landing fees and airport services
that come with increased passenger traffic.
Passengers would benefit from less waiting at security checkpoints
and perhaps greater convenience at their destinations. Lower fares
can sometimes be realized at alternative airports, for example choosing
to fly to Oakland Airport or San Jose instead of San Francisco International
could save you an average of $25 per person round trip. For Los Angeles,
Orange County's John Wayne Airport (SNA) would be more convenient
for visitors to Disneyland, as would Burbank or Ontario airports for the
Hollywood area instead of going to Los Angeles International (LAX).
The best way to see your airport options at your
destinations would be to
study a map of the city you will visit and look for the familiar representations
of airports on that map.
Online booking services often have lists of airport codes for commercial airports
serving various cities and would indicate whether an airport found on a map
would serve commercial airlines.
For travelers to cities in North America, an online flight reservations system
with an interactive map that indicates all commercial airport locations from
Alaska and Hawaii to Central America and the Caribbean.
This map displays the name and airport code as you move your cursor over
the airport location indicators on the map. This will allow passengers to specify
the airports at home and at their destinations when requesting flight and fare
information. Travelers would also be able to see which cities and towns have
commercial airports. This map can also be used to request flight information
and make reservations.
The web site of this intuitive online travel service is www.travelclickmap.com
