Seeking Forgiveness: Please forgive me
The phrase I'm sorry has truly lost its meaning. Fewer people are taking responsibility for their actions. When someone says they are sorry what they really mean is that they are sorry they got caught. Be it you cheated on your spouse and you got caught with your pants below your ankles. You're sorry.
Face it saying were sorry is pretty easy but meaning it is the hard part. How many times in our busy lives do we say were sorry? You took something that wasn't yours, you cheated on your spouse, you lied to your parents, and you hurt a friend. All these things come with the same reply I'm sorry. However the word sorry can mean nothing if you have not given some thought to why you are saying your sorry. Until you realize the amount of pain you have caused that person you can not truly be sorry.
When you have hurt someone more needs to be done than the original sorry. Maybe instead of saying you are sorry you should focus more on asking the other person for forgiveness. Forgiveness doesn't come easy for most people. Once the bonds of trust have been broken, it is the hardest thing to get back. It comes down to taking responsibility for our actions and realizing that when we have caused grief or hurt to another individual; than we must do our part to gain not only their trust again but their respect.
It is not in anyway a sign of weakness when we ask another individual for forgiveness. Think of people in your life that you have hurt. Maybe it is time that you ask for their
forgiveness. Everything in this world has meaning. It is not easy to ask for forgiveness when we have done wrong to someone. But just as we ask God for the forgiveness of our sins; we must ask those that we have caused pain to for forgiveness.
When we ask for forgiveness it is a sign that we have realized the hurt and grief that we have caused and we truly do apologize. It is the first step to taking responsibility for our own actions. While asking for forgiveness may not truly get rid of the unpleasant pain that you have caused by your own careless actions, it is a start down the path of forgiveness. Today is a day for forgiveness. Repent and ask His forgiveness and receive it in faith (Romans 10:13; 1 John 1:8,9; John 1:12 ) First start by asking our Heavenly Father to forgive us for our sins and then start your journey down the path to forgiveness by asking those in your life you have hurt to forgive you.
