Often while we search through the mails about our website, we
find a lot of questions from deserted wives wonder why their
husbands, boyfriends or men co-workers are often agitated,
showing loss of interest in work, reducing sex drive and always
looking tired or sleepy.

These are the most common signs of depression in men. Most men
will not see it in themselves since they don't like submit to
being a loser, weak or fragile, and so are less inclined to
share their feelings with their close ones. This reclusive
behavior compounds the problems by manifolds, as they start
behaving recklessly, drink heavily or take abusive drugs and
driving insanely fast.
The wives need to realize that their man can be helped through a
variety of approaches like:
Regular Exercise
Balanced and nutritious diet
Getting in touch with spirituality
Medications like
anti-depressants (Prozac, Zoloft, Lexapro, Paxil, Luvox)
Teaching men to contact their close one's, and talk about what
they are feeling.
Teaching men to perceive themselves as unique and lovable.
Using relaxation techniques for getting relieve from tension.
These include light exercises, yoga, listening audio-tapes etc.
Indulge your man in something he really enjoys - reading,
writing or may be a kiddy game.
Plan out a vacation or may be a break for few days. And spend
some time together remembering the happiest and
funniest things
in your life.
Men consume alcohol to forget their tensions. If they still do
not get relieved at it, they may start taking some life
threatening street drugs like ecstasy, cannabis etc. This type
of behavior has to be looked out carefully by a doctor.
Most men are reluctant to seek any medical help, so, they have
to be pressurized by some important person in their life.
A lot of patience is required from family members, they don't
need to create panic about or belittle the depressed person.
If he is feeling that no one understands him or he's been
ignored everywhere. And often he talks about dying or suicide.
These may be the early signals of a much bigger disaster. Over
the last few years men have been found more likely to kill
themselves due to depression. In this case you need take an
immediate medical treatment for him.
Remember depression can be easily treated. There is light at
the end of the tunnel. In emergency you can contact the social
health organizations, psychiatrist or your family doctor.
Alternatively search for some depression helpline number in your
city; this will surely guide you out of the trouble.
