What did you learn?
Have you ever sat back and thought seriously about each and every company you have worked for? Write this down - I am going to walk you through something that will change the way you think of success.
What have you learned from each and every business you worked for? What about every type of business you have tried to start? What have you learned from people you know that are successful? What can you learn from successful web sites you see? What is unique about the busiest restaurant you know? Which stores do you continue to frequent? Why? What types of clothes do you prefer? Why ?
*** Remember - do not just glance at these questions! If you get your paper out and start answering the questions, your future will change - guaranteed. ***
Ok, now you have a list of a number of successful people and companies you know of, or have worked for. What qualities do you notice about the ones that "squeak out a living" and the ones that are "an incredible success story"?
Write your answers down.
Now ask yourself this - the people that run the wildly successful companies - what are they like? Would you go for lunch with them? Would you invite them to your house for dinner?
Think about what has made them a success. Typically, you will find that the qualities that make them stand out are something like the following (my answers to this exercise):
» highly motivated to do better » deeply care about the customers and their satisfaction » always asking
what could be better » continually "on the front line" seeing peoples reactions » something that makes them stand out from the crowd - and at times it is not easy to find out what it is » in most cases - humble with their success - some are too proud of their success and they flaunt it » driven to be a better person » continually learning new skills » constantly reading books » very dedicated to finding what works and what doesn't work » use their creativity to find unusual "twists" to ideas » trust their instincts and gut feelings to help with decisions
There are many more but you get the picture. Chances are your list is similar.
My point behind this is - what can you do to put yourself on the list of the "wildly successful"?
The best thing you can do for yourself is this -
**** Take your list of success qualities and add the following to each one of them - "I am ...... " or "I ....." ****
Could something that simple work ? Yes - it does work ! Using my list from above it now becomes
I am highly motivated to do better I deeply care about the customers and their satisfaction
etc.....
Write down your new list and repeat it to yourself daily. This is very powerful and will work - if you do.
Try it - I DARE YOU !
