Music improves exercise performance
Music and exercise. Can good workout music improve your exercise performance and help you lose weight?
I remember walking into the gym one day and seeing a friend of mine on the elliptical machine - sweat running down his face, his eyes were closed and he had a look of bliss on his face. I snapped him from his stupor long enough for him to remove his headphones and tell me he was really into the "flow" and listening to some great workout music.
Good exercise music has a way of putting us into a rhythm where we tend to forget about time. If you have carefully selected your workout music you will find yourself looking forward to your workout. Music has a way of stimulating us physically and emotionally. This stimulation can be perfect motivation to help you with your workout.
What is the best workout music? That is simple - What
moves you? Is it 80's music? Christian workout music? Heavy metal? Whatever type of music motivates you can be found in an exercise mix. There is no need to have to record your own as nowadays you can purchase music to exercise by relatively inexpensively. A good exercise mix will maintain steady beats while the original recording may slow or quicken at times that will disturb the flow of your workout.
A quality disc player or mp3 player, something to carry your player in, and some sweat resistant headphones are all that you need to start getting motivated to burn those calories and increase your metabolism.
Enjoy your exercise music, be aware of your surroundings, and be safe. About the Author
